(Soda Springs, CA) — The blizzard that slammed the Sierra during the past several days did wonders for the all-important Sierra snowpack.
At the start of the year, the statewide snowpack was at 28-percent of normal, but it is now at 104-percent of normal. And, the current snowpack is at 94-percent of the April 1st average, the date when the snow total usually peaks for the year.
The Central Sierra Snow Lab is at 119-percent of its average to date after getting six-point-three-feet of snow. The lab’s snow-water equivalent is also at 98-percent of its seasonal median peak.
