(Placer County, CA) — Parts of the Sierra could begin March with up to ten feet of snow.
The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the Sierra Nevada, and the adjacent foothills, from four o’clock Thursday morning to ten o’clock Sunday morning. Forecasters predict this will be California’s heaviest snowfall of the season so far. Blizzard conditions are most likely to happen on Friday and last into Saturday.
Wind gusts of up to 65-miles-per-hour are possible in areas above the five-thousand-foot elevation line, including the greater Lake Tahoe area.
The blizzard warning extends from the Sierra Nevada east of Fresno all the way north to the Oregon border.
