(Davis, CA) — The man accused of killing two people and seriously injuring a third person in a series of stabbing attacks in Davis is back in a courtroom.

On Monday, prosecutors began presenting evidence for a judge to decide whether former U.C. Davis student Carlos Dominguez should stand trial for the stabbing spree last April. The case was put on hold last June, when it was determined that Dominguez had schizophrenia and was not mentally competent to stand trial. But, in late December, the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office announced he had been restored to competency.

The D.A.’s Office says it will not be seeking the death penalty against Dominguez.
