(Sacramento, CA) — A California Democrat is introducing a bill that would deny bail for repeat criminal offenders. Bay Area Assemblymember Evan Low’s legislation puts mechanisms in place so that repeat offenders don’t get casually released back into the streets, endangering lives.
His second bill strives to increase public transparency when inmates are released from prison early. It would require the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to provide public access to an inmate’s release date and details of what they did to earn early release credits.
Low believes these bills prioritize the victims and the public’s right to know and to be safe in their communities.
