(YCPD Release) — K9s are a huge help to both officer safety and resolving incidents without officers needing to use lethal force. K9s in California are mandated by the state to train a minimum of 16 hours a month with their handler and be proficient in their work. In this video, you’ll see an example of how effective the mere presence of a K9 can be and how this incident came to a safe resolution for all involved.
On 01/23/24, officers were searching for a male near Bridge Street and Boyd Street who was wanted for domestic violence charges and on probation for weapons violations. During the search, the male was located and safely taken into custody.
