(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Sutter County Sheriff’s office reports that pre-dawn, last Thursday morning at around 3;30, deputies attempted to pull over a 2014 Nissan Altima at Bouge & HWY 99, for failing to maintain lanes.
The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Santiago Romero of Live Oak sped off. Deputies though, managed to stay ahead, successfully deploying a spike-strip.
However, when Romero stopped, two passengers jumped out and fled on foot. At that time, Romero continued on with severely compromised tires, onto Central Avenue, where he stopped and attempted to run.
A Sutter County Sheriff Sergeant K-9 partner was deployed and Romero surrendered without further incident.
Charges include evading in a reckless manner, assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm), and possession of a controlled substance.
