(Sacramento, CA) — The court ruling which greatly restricts the way cities can enforce anti-camping ordinances is going to the U.S. Supreme Court. The high court agreed Friday to review the case which led to the ruling prohibiting cities from punishing people who sleep in public places when they have nowhere else to go.
California Governor Gavin Newsom filed an amicus brief in the case, urging the court to clarify the issue. In a statement Newsom says “The Supreme Court can now correct course and end the costly delays from lawsuits that have plagued our efforts to clear encampments and deliver services to those in need.”
