(Sacramento, CA) — Three geese recently found dead in a Land Park pond in Sacramento have tested positive for Avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu. While the virus typically spreads among wild birds and doesn’t often infect humans, there is a risk for pets like cats and dogs if exposed to infected birds.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife advises against touching sick or dying wildlife to prevent transmission and encourages residents to report such findings to local officials.
