(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba County Sheriff’s office reports an arrest, predawn, yesterday morning, following a high-speed pursuit which ended in Sacramento.
Officers responded at around 1:30 to a report of a burglary in the 2200 block of Swaisy Drive in Linda. The victim told deputies it was her boyfriend, 52-year-old Tawn Saephan of Sacramento, who had broken the back door.
As police were investigating, Saephan returned to the victim’s home, but immediately attempted to flee when he saw a sheriff’s vehicle.
A spike strip at earl road & Lindhurst Avenue damaged, but did not disable the vehicle. He continued to flee, hitting speeds on 90 mph, on HWY 70. The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department laid down a second spike strip at 99 & Howsley, taking the tires down to the rims, however, Saephan continued southbound.
CHP joined the chase at Elverta Road, and Sacramento Police joined in at Richards Boulevard.
The pursuit ultimately ended on 34th street neat the HWY 50 crampon, where a foot pursuit began, until a Sacramento Police K-9 ended it. Saephan was taken to the hospital “for injuries from the K-9 deployment” according to a media release.
Saephan will be booked into the Yuba County Jail upon medical clearance.
