(Placer County, CA) – In Placer County Court yesterday, 36-year-old Josh King of Marysville was sentenced to 17 years in state prison for the robbery of an 89-year-old woman living in a retirement community, in Lincoln, one year ago.
King gained access to her property by telling her he “needed to retrieve a ball” in her backyard. He then pulled a knife, demanded money, cut her landline and took her cell phone, along with cash, checks, credit & debit cards and drivers license. He then made an ATM withdrawal with her card at Thunder Valley Casino.
King was later arrested as his Marysville residence after an extensive investigation by the Lincoln Police Department. Yesterday, he was convicted of 1st degree robbery & theft from an elder adult, with a special enhancement for committing a violent crime on a victim over 65.
