(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba City Police Department has announced they have been awarded a $120,000 grant from the State Office of Traffic Safety for a variety of enforcement and education programs designed to reduce fatal and serious injury collisions.
Through September of next year, the money will go toward increased DUI checkpoints & patrols, distracted driving enforcement – particularly the hands free cell phone law – as well as enhanced enforcement of the violations most responsible for the worst collisions. That includes speeding, running red-lights & stop-signs, failing to yield and improper lane changes & turns.
The money will also be used to fund community presentations on the dangers on impaired and distracted driving & speeding, specifically as it relates to pedestrian and biker safety.
