(Rocklin, CA) — The Rocklin School Board is voting on a policy tonight that will notify parents about a student’s transgender identity. The rule means parents will be given a right to know when their child wants to be identified as a gender that is different from the one assigned to them at birth.
The policy also applies when a child wants to use a name other than a commonly recognized nickname or when they want to join sex-segregated school programs or activities.
The notification can be made by a teacher, counselor, or site administrator.
