(San Joaquin County, CA) — Crews are working to contain a diesel fuel and oil spill after a tugboat sank in the San Joaquin Delta. The boat went underwater in the Empire Tract area during the weekend. The Office of Spill Prevention and Response says it’s formulating a plan to clean up the spilled oil and salvage the boat.

So far, no wildlife seems impacted by the fuel and oil in the water.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office says the boat sinking was an accident. Authorities have not said when they expect to get it out of the water.
