(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – After recently being detected in Yuba County, Sutter County Public Heath officials have now confirmed the first three cases this year of West Nile virus in humans.
The Appeal-Democrat reports officials with Yuba County Public Health reported last Monday their first confirmed case, causing ‘severe illness,’ although symptoms vary from a slight fever and body aches, to even death in severe cases. Of the 3 cases in Sutter County, the paper reports two are experiencing the severe version while the third had a ‘moderate illness.’
To help prevent mosquitoes in your area, officials recommend you clear your yard of any standing water as “landscape irrigation or rains can provide mosquitoes with a good breeding habitat.”
