(San Jose, CA) — First responders from California are headed to Hawaii to help that state deal with the aftermath of its devastating wildfires.

Red Cross relief workers left San Jose International Airport Thursday, with more set to head to Maui later today. Governor Newsom has also sent some of California’s search-and-rescue specialists to Hawaii. Those crews come from Oakland, Riverside and Sacramento. The goal is to extend relief to those affected by the fires on Maui that have killed over 50 people and left thousands homeless
