(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba City Police Department reports two arrests and the seizure of a loaded gun, after officers responded to a report last Friday night of a vehicle allegedly attempting to run over a transient.
The YCPD officer conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, with a passenger inside holding a 2-year-old child in the front seat. The driver began to fight with the initial responding officer, as a citizen stopped to assist and a back up unit was summoned. Both the driver and the passenger were then subdued and handcuffed.
A .38 zip gun was found in the vehicle, loaded, with 11 rounds in the magazine.
According to a YCPD release, “The driver was arrested for assault on a peace officer, possessing a loaded firearm in public, possessing an unconventional firearm, possessing a zip gun, and a lighting violation on a vehicle. The passenger was arrested for obstructing an investigation. The female passenger was also cited for not having the child properly restrained.”
