(Yuba-Sutter,-Colusa, CA) – FEMA has announced – effective July 1st – a temporarily halt to taking map revision requests from 38 California counties, including Yuba, Sutter & Colusa “until FEMA formally consults with the National Marine Fisheries Service and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, as required by the endangered species Act of 1973” according to The Appeal-Democrat.
The California counties affected are home to salmon and striper and a few other species that are born in fresh water, migrate to the ocean for the bulk of their lives, then return to their fresh water beginnings to spawn, lay eggs and die.
