(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – Local aviation legend, world renowned aviation author& photographer, Air Force Captain (retired), Brian Shul passed away Saturday at the age of 75.

The Appeal-Democrat, citing a social media post by the non-profit Wings of Hope Pancreatic Cancer – for which Captain Shul was an active advocate – written by his sister Maureen Shul says in part, “Brian spoke to a large military group in Reno…after his speech and book signing Brian suffered a heart attack, was administered CPR and rushed to the hospital where he passed away.”

His frequent speaking engagements featured prominently his time as an SR-71 pilot, for 9 years, out of Beale Air Force Base. His books include “Sled Driver: Flying the World’s Fastest Jet,” and “Blue Angels: A Portrait of God,” “Summer Thunder” and “The Untouchables.”
