(Shasta County, CA) — Regulators approved a 150-million-dollar settlement for Pacific Gas & Electric’s alleged role in causing the deadly Zogg Fire in Shasta County. The money will be used for new wildfire initiatives that aim to reduce the risk of fires in the future.
The California Public Utilities Commission opened an investigation against PG&E, alleging the company did not remove a tree on time, due to poor record keeping. The state utility agency says the tree allegedly fell on PG&E energy conductors and started the Zogg Fire that killed four people in 2020.
