(Sacramento, CA) — Mayors from the 13 largest cities in California are meeting at the State Capitol to demand funding for housing and homelessness. The group is urging lawmakers and Governor Gavin Newsom to set aside two-billion dollars in funding every year for the state’s homeless housing program.

The state hasn’t earmarked any more than a billion dollars for the grant program in the past. This comes as the legislature works on cutting spending due to an over 30-billion dollar budget shortfall.
