(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba Water Agency is implementing emergency repairs to Ostrom Road, between Virginia & South Beale Roads after a culvert running under the road failed, causing a sedan-sized sinkhole, which appears to be around 10 feet deep.
The culvert is owned and maintained by Yuba Water and provides irrigation water to south Yuba County farmers and ranchers. Improvements to the culvert were planned over the winter months according to a release, but “that work was ultimately delayed when no qualified bids were received.”
Presumable at least one has now, and the release says repairs will take 6 to 8 weeks, requiring that stretch of Ostrom Road to remain closed until repairs are completed.
