(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – In its latest round of state road funding, the California Transportation Commission has allocated $2.8-million for safety improvements at HWY 99 at Oswald Road. That intersection has become one of our most dangerous, with a fatality there just a few weeks ago.
A traffic signal has been identified as the preferred safety measure, the least expensive of three options, which also include a roundabout, or, an over-crossing.
The signal is estimated to cost $2.7-million. A roundabout. $12-million and an over-crossing, “tens of millions” according to the Sutter County Public Information officer, who tells The Appeal-Democrat work at 99 & Oswald is “scheduled to begin in 2025 or 2026.”
