(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – A 10-year-old boy has been shot and killed in a family dispute in Olivehurst. Deputies responded at 7:40 Sunday evening to a shots fired call in the 5700 block of Alicia Avenue.

The boy was taken to the hospital with a single gunshot wound, but did not survive.

Shorty after the shooting, Yuba County Sheriff’s investigators arrested 31-year-old Juan Ortiz of Olivehurst, a convicted felon. He had also been shot but his injuries were non-life-threatening.

A YCSO press release confirms numerous calls for service at this particular Alicia Avenue address, and that Ortiz is a known gang member “with an extensive history with law enforcement which includes violent felonies.”
