(Placerville, CA) — Concern is growing in El Dorado County after a spike in mountain lion sightings. In recent weeks, several Placerville residents have reported seeing a group of three mountain lions roaming through a neighborhood off Blanchard Road.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife says the area where the sightings were reported is a prime mountain lion habitat. Officials say the big cats are acting normal, adding that there have been no reports of pets or livestock being killed, or any other threats to public safety.
Wildlife officials are also reminding residents to keep their pets and livestock in a safe place during the early morning and nighttime hours.
