(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – CHP Yuba-Sutter reports 3 fatalities in 2 separate collisions over the holiday weekend.
A 49-year-old North Highlands woman, whose name has not been released, was killed when she crossed into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons on Forty Mile Road, just north of the Sutter County line, at 8:00 Saturday morning. She collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 88-year-old Jack Cogburn of Brownsville, who sustained a broken leg.
On Sunday afternoon at around 1:30, on Larkin Road just north of Riverside Road, a 59-year-old Oroville woman and a 52-year-old Fairfield man, both passengers in a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old Oroville man, were killed when he, according to the collision report, attempted to pass traffic into oncoming traffic, colliding head on with a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Santa Maria resident. Two passengers in that vehicle, including a 47-year-old Gridley resident, sustained major injuries.
