(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – At a press conference yesterday, Yuba City Police Chief Brian Baker apologized to 67-year-old Gregory Gross, who is wheelchair bound after a traffic stop on April 12th, 2020 for suspected DUI & so called ‘pain compliance’ maneuvers by Officer Joshua Jackson. Those actions resulted in a broken neck and quadriplegia.

Jackson is now no longer with YCPD.

Gross subsequently sued and the police department recently settled for $20,354,000. Baker’s statement included “I’m disappointed by the actions of a few select members of our organization that day…indefensible…on April 12, 2020 we missed the mark and for that Mr. gross, I am sorry.”

An attorney for Gross responded “We are not against police…we’re just against police brutality,” and presented Baker with a $20,000 check for the Peace Officers Memorial Fund.
