WILLIE B

5A-10A M-F

Email: WillieB@kubaradio.com

Born and raised in a small town in Alabama, Willie B was the only child NOT to disappoint: With family members becoming Doctors or Lawyers – Wills was the one who finally made his parent’s dream come true – By becoming a DISC JOCKEY…

OK now, the ‘accurate version’ of his BIO!

A “DNA Curse’ compelled him to hang out at a local radio station, starting at age 12. Figuring if they couldn’t get rid of him – They’d have to HIRE HIM! (Then again, cleaning the station toilets may have ‘helped’ the process…:) After high school, Willie B landed his first Major Market Job, at age 18, doing Afternoon Drive at B100 San Diego. No one was more surprised than Wills – Possible exception being the AUDIENCE!

After that, it was on to the Legendary Ten-Q Los Angeles, where he worked alongside the (also) Legendary Real Don Steele! That was followed by stints at KGBS & KIIS-FM, also in L.A…. Then on to WRKO, Boston. However, NOT liking freezing-to-death, he returned to San Diego, achieving #1 Ratings in Morning Drive at Magic 91. Seven years then at B104 Baltimore, and stops also included KHFI Austin and stations in New Orleans, Indianapolis and Memphis.

Along the way, he was even voted a ‘Billboard Radio Personality of the Year’ Award Winner – Which, if you ever meet him, will be his FIRST topic of conversation!…:)

But his heart was always set on returning to California – because, who doesn’t like to pay $4.00 for a gallon of gas? For over three years now, Willie B has served both as Program Director and Morning Host for KUBA! His show is hyper-local, – featuring ‘The 5-3-0 Life’ – Complete with all those nasty Social Media comments you love to hate! That, along with Yuba-Sutter News, Weather, Traffic, Sports – And your favorite Classic Hits – Is what that show is all about! We hope you enjoy, as you can catch him every morning from 6 until 9, on 1600am, and now, 98.1 FM –  KUBA!

I am a father of three great kids and I’ve been fortunate enough to do something I love for a living, being in this great business we call Radio. When I’m not hanging with family, friends or on-the-air, you’ll probably find me watching a Tigers, Red Wings or Michigan Football game as I am a native of Detroit and love my hometown sports teams. Thank you for making me a part of your day.
