YUBA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE & YCPD ISSUE LETTERS SUPPORTING PEACEFUL PROTESTS

Both the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office, and the Yuba City Police Department have issued letters condemning the actions of a Minneapolis Police Officer in the death of George Floyd. Sheriff Wendell Anderson writes ‘you have every right to be angry, but we implore all to exercise your rights in a peaceful manner.” The YCPD letter also states the video of Floyd ‘is a gross deviation of the trust and confidence granted to peace officers by the community we serve.” The Yuba City Police statement, from Chief Robert Landon, goes on to say ‘We will protect peaceful assembly…with professionalism, empathy and dedication to the community we serve. That is a promise to you.’ Both letters are available online.
