Yuba City School Superintendent Shuts Down Tonight’s River Valley Football Game

(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – For at least one game, the Yuba City School Superintendent has shut down River Valley High School’s football team after learning members of the team acted out “a reprehensible act of a slave auction.” In addition, it was recorded and made public, according to a statement sent yesterday to River Valley staff & parents.

The team was forced to forfeit tonight’s scheduled conference game at Woodcreek.

The Superintendent’s statement said the recording clearly demonstrates that the situation was orchestrated, organized and underscores a concern that the students spent time contemplating this terrible alleged act without the slightest regard that the action is hateful and hurtful.”

River Valley is 0-and-5 this season – counting the Woodcreek game – and the team has 5 more games scheduled.
