(YCPD Press Release) –The Yuba City Police Department made an arrest for possession of a loaded firearm in public. 

On March 28, 2022 at 11:45 P.M. a Yuba City Police Officer was driving a marked patrol vehicle in the area of Gray Avenue and Kimball Avenue. The officer was in the area looking for a vehicle related to another call. The officer saw a sedan which matched the description of the vehicle he was looking for, and he began following the sedan.

As the officer was behind the sedan, the passenger door opened and an object was thrown from the vehicle. The officer recognized the object as a handgun and a traffic stop was conducted.

The passenger, 20-year-old Rigoberto Guevara of Yuba City, was safely detained.

The handgun was located on laying in the roadway and was found to be loaded. Mr. Guevara was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm in public and was later booked into the Sutter County Jail.

The vehicle Mr. Guevara was riding in was determined not to be involved in the initial call the officer was on, and the driver of the sedan was released on scene.
