(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba City Police Department is providing additional details regarding a fatal collision Sunday that resulted in the 5th Street Bridge being closed for around 5 hours.

At 11:45 Sunday morning, dispatch received several 911 calls reporting a 2 vehicle collision at the base of the bridge, involving a Ford E350, coming off the bridge in Yuba City, and a Toyota Rav 4 traveling in the same direction. A preliminary investigation indicates “The Rav 4 made an unsafe turn in front of the E350.” When first responders arrived, they began rendering medical aid to a woman who was a passenger in the Rav 4. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver and another passenger of the Rav 4 were transported to Adventist Rideout Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford was not injured.
