TRIAL OF YUBA CITY MAN CHARGED IN MURDER OF ELDERLY WOMAN RESUMES TODAY

Following a 3 day pause due to the coronavirus, the jury trial of a Yuba City man charged in the 2013 murder of a 94-year-old woman, resumes today.

31-year-old Armando Cuadras was only arrested in April of last year, after a neighbor of Leola Shreves was originally charged and spent 3 years in jail before being released due to a lack of evidence. However, new evidence found during surveillance of the suspect reportedly does link Cuadras to the crime, after DNA on sunflower seeds he spit out matched that found at the crime scene.

The Appeal-Democrat reports the trial is estimated to take 3 to 4 weeks in Sutter County Superior Court.
