As more counties throughout our state near completion of the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccinations – direct healthcare workers – The Governor has announced an expansion of the second phase, which will include all residents 75 and older. That’s now, 65 and up.
Local health officers are indicating that while it’s an admirable effort to speed up the process of everyone getting vaccinated as soon as possible, it’s impossible without the proper number of doses being provided. In Yuba/Sutter, a spokesperson says as of yesterday, only 10 doses remain, with the next shipment of 1,400 not due to arrive until next Tuesday.
In Butte County, they’ve begun Phase 1B, but face a similar supply issue with the expansion to those 65 and over, from 75-plus.
