Strong weekend winds drove 2 new fires in Northern California yesterday. The Zogg Fire started yesterday around 3 in Shasta County and has already grown to 7000 acres with no containment. Several small mountain communities have been evacuated and highway 36 has been closed near the Trinity county border as Cal-Fire says they are bracing for the fire to blow into that county.
In addition, the Glass fire is causing thousands to be evacuated in Napa and Sonoma counties. Authorities say that the fire is heading in to Santa Rosa along the burn scar left by the Tubbs Fire. Embers from the Glass Fire, which started near St. Helena yesterday, are believed to be the cause of 2 fires, the Boysen fire, and the Shady Fire, which were sweeping into Santa Rosa overnight.
