(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – Marysville is in negotiations to bring professional baseball to town. According to a media release, the City Council will hold a special meeting next week “to begin negotiations to keep a baseball team fielded in Marysville.”
The release goes on to state that just prior to discovering the news that the Gold Sox would be suspending operations next season to “regroup”, the City of Marysville was contacted by the PECOS League baseball LLC, described as “the largest independent league in the United States” about fielding a team in Marysville. A PECOS League spokesperson even provided a name, The Drakes, saying “after learning the history of Bryant Field, we feel it will be a great fit to our league and our geography.”
If it comes to fruition, Marysville would be the league’s 17th team.
