The Wheatland man charged in the murder of a sex offender entered a not guilty plea Friday, in Yuba County Superior Court. 44-year-old Rory Banks is accused in the shooting death of 55-year-old Ralph Mendez, at his residence in the 200 block of G Street early last Wednesday morning.

The Appeal-Democrat reports the suspect may have used sex offender information found online, in what prosecutors are calling a premeditated murder. Banks remains in custody, ineligible for bail, in the Yuba County Jail and his next court appearance is set for June 2nd.
