As reported yesterday, a shutdown for nonessential operations in Live Oak has occurred following a roll call vote in which the city failed to pass a 2021/22 budget.

Included in the shut down, is the Parks and Recreation Department, which runs the public pool. The Live Oak City Hall remains open with 20 full time employees deemed essential, however, part timers are included in the shut down.

The Appeal-Democrat reports the council meets again July 21st. If a budget is not passed and subsequently, not approved at a follow-up meeting July 28th, even essential employees will not be working as the city would shut down completely.
