LEOPARD ATTACK AT BUTTE COUNTY WILD ANIMAL SANCTUARY

A volunteer at the Barry R. Kirshner wildlife sanctuary in Butte Valley is reportedly recovering from what are described as non-life-threatening injuries after getting injured by an Amur leopard.

The sanctuary’s director Roberta Kirshner tells Action News, “it was an incident…Definitely not an attack.” She describes it as a small leopard, under 100 pounds. The so-called special needs leopard is described by staffers as “one of the silliest they have.” Kirshner says the cat will not be put down, “it’s not its fault they’re wild animals.”
