A homeless man faces a preliminary hearing today, on charges including the attempted murder of 2 other homeless men. 34-year-old Mark Silveira is accused of stealing items from a Putnam Avenue homeless camp last December, during which, he was confronted by two men. The Appeal-Democrat reports Silveira allegedly fired at the men, hitting one in the groin area and the other, in the buttocks. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries. Silveira has remainder in the Sutter County Jail since December with bail set at half-a-million dollars. His hearing is scheduled for 9:00 this morning.
