CHICO MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO LOCAL POST OFFICE THEFTS

In Federal Court in Sacramento, a Chico man pled guilty yesterday to burglarizing 10 post offices throughout Northern California including Stirling City, Bangor, Meridian and even hitting the Butte City and Glenn Post Offices – twice. 32-year-old Jeremy Elguez’s thefts included large checks -one for $350,000, and another for $80,000 -as well as general mail, postal money orders and cameras. He’s scheduled to be sentenced November 5th and is facing a maximum of 5 years in prison and a quarter-million-dollar fine.
