CEMENT SHORTAGE DELAYS FIFTH STREET BRIDGE COMPLETION

The Fifth Street Bridge completion date has been pushed back. The formal opening date was to have been yesterday, however, the Project Manager says a cement shortage has pushed the planned completion date to the 21st of this month. The Appeal-Democrat also reports that no additional bridge closures are needed.

The Project Manager goes on to report that removing the temporary structure in the river that allowed for demolition of the old Fifth Street Bridge was more difficult than anticipated, and that contributed to the 2 week delay.
