In a briefing last evening, the Butte County Sheriff reported the North Complex West Zone Fire has claimed 10 lives, with the discovery of 7 more deceased residents while conducting 124 welfare checks. 98 were found safe – but 16 are still missing.
The West Zone is reported by Cal Fire at 67,295 acres and 5% contained. 2,000 structures are confirmed destroyed with 22,356 more threatened.
Mandatory evacuations orders remain for Feather Falls, Clipper Mills, Berry Creek, Brush Creek, Forbestown, Copley Acres, Bangor and Kelly Ridge. The Operation’s Section Chief says ‘the Kelly Ridge area has not been impacted” but is not out of danger, although an evacuation order for the section from Foothills Boulevard to Oakland Avenue has been reduced to a warning.
The warning for Paradise was lifted yesterday. The City of Oroville and Town of Palermo and Honcut remain under evacuation warnings.
