BUTTE COUNTY WILDFIRE DEATH TOLL NOW AT 14 -THREE IDENTIFIED

In Butte County, the death toll is reported at 14 now due to the North Complex West Zone Fire. According to the latest update last evening, that fire is 18% contained at 74,200 acres.

The identity of 3 of the victims has been released: Khawar Bhatti, age 58, Millicent Catarancuic, age 77 and Josiah Williams, age 16 РAll of Berry Creek.

The West Zone was reported 18% contained last evening at 74,200 acres, with the evacuation warning for most of the City of Oroville lifted, and the evacuation order reduced to a warning for the Bangor area from Forbestown Road south to Swede’s Flat Road, and east of Miner’s ranch Road to the county Line.

The West Zone also continues to impact Yuba county with New York Flat Road and Challenge Cutoff Road remaining closed, and communities north and east of Brownsville to the County border remaining under mandatory evacuation orders, including Challenge, Forbestown, Woodleaf, Clipper Mills and Strawberry Valley.
