A wildfire in south Butte County late yesterday afternoon near the Gridley-Biggs cemetery, was apparently sparked by someone grinding metal according to investigators. The blaze was last reported 40% contained with forward progress stopped at 63 acres.

At one point a Southern Pacific train loaded with lumbar traveled through the blaze resulting in a temporary halt to train traffic through the area. No structures were impacted and no injuries reported.

Meanwhile in Yuba County, Cal fire reports what they’ve named The Beale Fire in the area on Hammond-Smartsville Road & Henwood Ranch Road is 20% contained.
