WILLIE B (5a-9a)

Born and raised in a small town in Alabama, Willie B was the only child NOT to disappoint: With family members becoming Doctors or Lawyers – Wills was the one who finally made his parent’s dream come true – By becoming a DISC JOCKEY…

OK now, the ‘accurate version’ of his BIO!

A “DNA Curse’ compelled him to hang out at a local radio station, starting at age 12. Figuring if they couldn’t get rid of him – They’d have to HIRE HIM! (Then again, cleaning the station toilets may have ‘helped’ the process…:) After high school, Willie B landed his first Major Market Job, at age 18, doing Afternoon Drive at B100 San Diego. No one was more surprised than Wills – Possible exception being the AUDIENCE!

After that, it was on to the Legendary Ten-Q Los Angeles, where he worked alongside the (also) Legendary Real Don Steele! That was followed by stints at KGBS & KIIS-FM, also in L.A…. Then on to WRKO, Boston. However, NOT liking freezing-to-death, he returned to San Diego, achieving #1 Ratings in Morning Drive at Magic 91. Seven years then at B104 Baltimore, and stops also included KHFI Austin and stations in New Orleans, Indianapolis and Memphis.

Along the way, he was even voted a ‘Billboard Radio Personality of the Year’ Award Winner – Which, if you ever meet him, will be his FIRST topic of conversation!…:)

But his heart was always set on returning to California – because, who doesn’t like to pay $4.00 for a gallon of gas? For over three years now, Willie B has served both as Program Director and Morning Host for KUBA! His show is hyper-local, – featuring ‘The 5-3-0 Life’ – Complete with all those nasty Social Media comments you love to hate! That, along with Yuba-Sutter News, Weather, Traffic, Sports – And your favorite Classic Hits – Is what that show is all about! We hope you enjoy, as you can catch him every morning from 6 until 9, on 1600am, and now, 98.1 FM –  KUBA!

JAY COFFEY: (9a-12p)

Jay’s been Rockin’ N’ Rollin’ for decades, beginning as a bass player in San Francisco Bay Area rock bands. His radio career begin at a small 5000 watt AM station in Modesto California, and after four years moving around Central California he wound up playing the hits in Los Angeles for over 28 years. A lifelong lover of Golden retreivers, he aquired somewhat of a tolerance for miniature Schnauzers thanks to his wife, Janet who’s been afflicted with Schnauzer-itis since her childhood on Long Island New York. Jay is dedicated to making radio fun and informative for his listeners.

JOHN SUMMERS: (12p-5p)

John’s 30+ year radio career has taken him all across the country.  His love of music from the player’s perspective has done the same: Lots of traveling as the guitarist in his own rock band! He’s also worked as a session musician for other great artists.  When John’s not rockin’ on stage or entertaining us on the radio he’s hitting the hills off-road on his mountain bike or motorcycle, or he’s buried in his music room going through his huge collection of LPs.  He also loves a great novel and never misses the latest block-buster movie.

JOYCE JEFFERSON: (5pm-11pm)

This single mom landed her first radio job while working at a pizza parlor. She and her twin teenage daughters have three dogs, three cats, two leopard geckos, a chinchilla and a fish. Joyce loves studying clouds and “weather watching.”  She also sings and pulls out her guitar to entertain friends now and then. By the way, she still loves pizza.

KEITH STEPHENS: (11pm-3am)

Keith grew up in New England, but escaped the cold to graduate from Arizona State where he started his radio career.  When he’s not on the radio, he’s a true soccer dad with two daughters (one a teenager so wish him luck). Keith loves classic TV, especially Seinfeld and MASH!  He likes to work out, read on his Kindle, and watch the latest trends on social media. First album he ever bought? “Band On The Run” by Paul McCartney and Wings. He still has it and is excited because vinyl is cool again!

JAY FOX: (3am-5am)

Jay has enjoyed playing the hits for four decades!  He is so driven by music and the history of Rock & Roll that he loves playing music trivia with anyone willing to take on the challenge (Hint: He knows his stuff!).    Married for 33 years, Jay and his lovely bride Regina have now seen their children go on to very successful careers themselves. A volunteer with the fire department and rabid baseball fan, Jay’s secret goal in life is to visit every ballpark in America to rate how nice the parking lots are. He was recently elected Mayor of Rock & Roll Radio by his 27 fans who have never met him but like his voice.  (If they only knew)
